The first important step for prevention is a clean cultivation environment. The tent and the grow room should always be clean. This way you avoid mold spores and the like. Mop and vacuum regularly – these simple steps work wonders. You should also disinfect the scissors you use to remove the leaves before each cutting operation.
Another preventative step against a variety of pests is the application of nematodes and lacewing larvae. Lacewing larvae are beneficial insects that specifically control aphids, thrips and spider mites. To do this, buy a packet of lacewing larvae and hang it on the plants. To protect your roots too, buy some nematode powder. Mix the powder with your irrigation water and water your plants with it. You only need to repeat the application if there is an acute infestation. A single application is only for prevention.
If you discover an insect in your growing environment, you should put up a yellow board and observe whether it is an infestation or not. A single insect does not automatically mean that your plants are infested. It may simply be that the insect has strayed into your growing environment.
An important tip: Fight pests as quickly as possible as soon as you discover them.
