Plants need good training, otherwise they simply do their own thing. There are various plant training methods that have a positive influence on growth and lead to a higher yield.
The simplest method is to tie them down. The upper shoots are tied down with clips to ensure that the lower shoots receive an even amount of light and grow more vigorously. You can influence the growth according to your preferences through targeted tying.
If you bend a stem too much when tying it and it breaks, don’t worry. This is also a plant training method. At this point, the tissue will only grow together more strongly and result in a stronger distribution of nutrients in this shoot.
The third plant training method is topping. Topping involves removing the main shoot of the plant. By removing the main shoot, two new main shoots are created. You can repeat this process several times during the growth phase, but please don’t take everything from the plant and don’t overdo it. You should be aware that this method stresses the plant the most.
The plant training methods stress your plants a little. It is therefore important in the following steps to avoid further stress factors and to prevent and control pests. We have a separate chapter on this.
