Now it’s time to get down to business: the flowering phase is the most exciting time of your grow – the buds are finally showing! But be careful: this is the time to decide whether you will end up with dense, aromatic flowers or whether problems such as mold and measly buds will ruin your harvest. Here you can find out what you need to pay attention to during this sensitive phase.
🚀 Stretching – the final spurt to the top
Something special happens in the first two weeks of the flowering phase: your plant goes into turbo mode once again. This stretching ensures that it stretches upwards.
👉 Respond to this by casting a SCROG (Screen of Green) net:
- It keeps the shoots at an even level.
- All flowers receive the same amount of light.
- Your plant will not grow uncontrollably in height, but broadly and productively.
✂️ Lollipopping – energy for the top buds
After stretching, the actual flower formation begins. Now it’s worth doing some targeted training: lollipopping.
- Remove all leaves and flower shoots in the lower third of the plant.
- These would hardly produce any yield in the shade anyway, but would consume important nutrients.
- This directs the energy to the upper flowers, where it is needed most.
👉 In addition, you should regularly remove large leaves that cast shadows on buds.
🛡️ Pest & mold prevention
The flowering phase is not a time to become careless.
- Pest prevention remains mandatory: clean tent, clean tools, regular checks.
- Risk of mold: Particularly high because the buds are now denser and juicier.
- Keep the humidity below 65%.
- Check your plants regularly for mold infestation.
👉 A small spot of mold can endanger the entire harvest – so always remain vigilant.
🌬️ Fresh air = healthy flowers
In addition to cleanliness, ventilation is crucial.
- Use clip fans that gently sweep over your plants.
- Ensure continuous air exchange via the exhaust air system and activated charcoal filter.
- This prevents stagnant, humid air and reduces the risk of mold and pests.
🧾 Brief summary
In the flowering phase, the plant grows vigorously again – balance the height with a SCROG net, carry out lollipopping, keep the humidity below 65%, check regularly for mold and ensure good ventilation.
