As soon as the cuttings have developed their first complete set of leaves, you can repot them in the tray. To do this, you must first press holes into the smartSOIL. The holes should be the same size as the growing pot and evenly spaced from each other and the tray. Next, carefully remove the cuttings from the growing pots. To remove the plant from the plastic cups, press against the pot and simply lift out the plant together with the substrate.
Don’t be alarmed! The white hairs on the roots are not mold, they are the so-called root hairs. These are very important for the absorption of nutrients and water by the roots.
Now you can plant the cuttings in the tray. When repotting, gently press the plant down so that it is level with the rest of the smartSOIL.
Good to know: You can cover the smartSOIL with mulch and also plant helper plants. Companion plants such as marigolds and clovers fix nutrients from the air in the soil and also regulate the humidity, temperature and water retention capacity of the soil. They also serve as prevention against pests. They also indicate how active the soil already is. Lush growth of the cover crop indicates that the nutrients in the soil are being made available to the plants. These helpers will not take nutrients away from your plants. Cannabis is very competitive and will prevail against the helper plants at the end of the vegetative phase.
As soon as the cuttings are planted in the tray, you should only water around the edge of the tray. The plants will then look for the water in the pot and develop a large root system accordingly.
