The successful start of your grow begins with the germination of the seeds. Take several seeds and leave them to float in a glass of water overnight (alternative: the handkerchief method). We recommend that you germinate twice as many seeds as the number of plants you ultimately want to grow. This means that if you want to grow four plants, you should germinate eight seeds.
On the one hand, this ensures that you have enough cuttings. Not all seeds germinate and form roots. On the other hand, you can get rid of the weak plants and opt for the strong young plants. Plants that have problems right from the start will produce weak results later on. In this way, you ensure a reliable basis for a successful grow.
After about 24 hours, you should see the embryo emerge from the seed coat. Take one plastic cup or a small seed pot for each seed and fill it with potting compost. Press a small hole into the soil with your little finger, but it should not be deeper than half a centimeter. Place the seed in the hole. The root should point downwards. Then cover the seed with potting compost. Cover the seed pot with a transparent plastic cover to keep the humidity high. Water these seed pots every day with a little water, the substrate should be slightly moist. Leave the seedlings in the seed pots until they have developed their first full set of leaves. This should happen after 1.5 to 3 weeks.
The following climate parameters are important for the cultivation phase:
- High temperature between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius
- High humidity above 90 percent
- You should not yet run your lamp on the highest setting
- Set the timer for the entire vegetative phase to 18h/day.
