Automatically controlled dripper for indoor cultivation.
Blumat drippers require a minimum pressure for the pouring head to function, also to prevent blockages.
The Tropf-Blumat is the heart of the system and is both a humidity sensor and a dripper. Each drip point is therefore sensor-controlled according to the tensiometer principle. The system includes suitable fittings for connecting the hoses.
Process
The Drip-Blumat is filled with water (only for the sensor function!) – see instructions for use – and inserted into the moist soil. The soil becomes drier and draws water out of the sensor via the porous clay cone, creating a vacuum. This releases the thin drip tube via a membrane in the watering head (previously squeezed) and it slowly begins to drip. The water in the soil moves back to the clay cone and the negative pressure inside is reduced, the valve closes again and the dripping slowly stops.
Setting
The Drip Blumat is set using its brown adjustment knob so that it does not drip when the soil is optimally moist. The sensor needs some time to adjust at the beginning, so this setting can only be made the next day or so. The general immediate setting is described in the operating instructions or in our setting recommendations. The correct initial setting is important!
Care
The water used must be clean (a filter is not provided), it may also contain fully water-soluble fertilizer. If the water is extremely hard (from approx. 30°dH), water treatment (softening) is recommended or clean rainwater may need to be used. Slight limescale deposits are removed from the drip hose by rubbing.
The water level in the sensor should be checked occasionally on a random basis, but does not normally need to be topped up during the watering season. Winter operation is also possible under certain conditions.
